Perhaps the most interesting part of the experience was that people presented themselves to him as time travelers. Orwell’s “Big Brother” was becoming a reality. Those predictions seemed possible, although improbable, in the midst of the War on Drugs. Today, on the other hand, that possibility is becoming a probability.

And did you know that all the new passports contain tracking devices that enable the authorities to know exactly where you are? Is Big Brother watching you?

One of the most important things a steelhead angler needs to learn is the run timing of the rivers they fish. Some good ways to do this is watching for concentrations of other anglers, contacting local hatcheries for return information, reading fishing articles, and check several Websites for updated information on Steelhead returns. Also, successful steelhead angling depends primarily on river levels or flow rates, and water clarity water temperature does play a part also however I do not believe this is as important as water color. If you head out after a heavy rain, with a few exceptions you will be wasting your time. Sometimes under the right conditions (I wish I could tell you what these conditions are but I never know when they prefer these) steelhead will go crazy for medium-sized spoons and/or spinners. You cast them quartering upstream, let them sink almost to the bottom, and start a slow retrieve when the current starts to swings it towards the bank.

During the later steelhead season fly fishers that are skilled at nymph fishing can do very well in many of the runs. You can fly fish with less knowledge about bugs as it is more about presentation with the steelhead the which fly you should be using. You should be ready for cold water fishing as the water temps can be in the mid 30 degree range but for those who enjoy this type of fishing it can be extremely satisfying. Try swinging streamers made of rabbit or marabou if a steelhead is out there they should produce a strike and for what ever reason they seem to hit this type of fly pretty hard.

Okay, not really. Article marketing is more than alive and well. But let me tell you something, video is slowly becoming the king of online marketing. You won’t find one top marketing name who isn’t using video in some way to promote his products. And as technology gets better and better, the number of people using video is going to increase dramatically, just like the number of people now on broadband as compared to years ago. In this article, I’m going to explain why video has become so big, why you should use it and some tips to get really good at it.

Why it’s become big is simple. The technology is here and people love to watch things. If you think I’m kidding, just head on over to Alexa and take a look at what the number two site is on the Internet. That’s right, it’s YouTube. The only site bigger is Google, who happens to own YouTube. I wonder why? Maybe Google knows something that we don’t. Point is, video is huge. You can go to YouTube and look up just about anything at all and you’ll find it. I have been amazed at some of the stuff I’ve found there.

Okay, why should you use it? Well, referring back to number one, the bigness of video, you’d be a fool not to. You’re going to probably get just as many people watching your videos as reading your articles, if not more. Yes, there is a large segment of the population that prefers to read. However, there are a number of people who HATE reading but love watching things. By NOT using video in your promotions, you are leaving out that segment of the population. It’s really that simple.

As for tips, if you’re on a shoestring budget, you can do this cheaply. Download Open Office, which is free, and use the slide creation software (similar to Powerpoint) to create a slideshow. Then, download Camstudio, which is also free, to create your video. If you can swing the cost, get yourself a camcorder and spring for Camtasia, which is the black tie of video creation software programs. It’s not that expensive and it can do some amazing things.

In developing a personal Forex trading style it is likely a trader will experiment with numerous technical indicators over time but eventually end up with just a handful of favorites which are used on a daily basis.

The use of trendlines is taught in just about every training course out there and popular opinion seems to suggest they should take a reasonably prominent place in any successful Forex trading style.

This article begs to differ. Yes, trendlines can be useful but in my opinion they are superseded by horizontal lines.

What is the difference?

Trendlines are simply lines drawn across the lows of bars or candles in an uptrend, or lines drawn across the highs of bars or candles in a downtrend.

One Forex trading style may use the Tom DeMark method of drawing trendlines which gets very specific by joining the most recent low with the previous lower low (looking left on the chart) and then extending the line forward (looking right on the chart) for an uptrend.

For a downtrend join the most recent high with the previous higher high (looking left on the chart) and then extending the line forward (looking right on the chart). These trendlines then give indications of a breakout once they are broken.

Horizontal lines are simply lines drawn across highs and lows on a chart marking support and resistance.

Why are horizontal lines superior?

The ideal Forex trading style is simple and easy to use and it helps if the charts we are studying are clear and reasonably uncluttered.

Drawing numerous trendlines can obscure what is really happening with price action. True, some traders just draw trendlines across main highs and lows and ignore the mini swings. Nevertheless, trendlines have to be constantly re-drawn and updated as price action continues.

On the other hand, just putting in a horizontal line on key levels of support and resistance is simple and easy to see. They have great significance on the higher time frames, especially the 4 hour or the daily charts.

Of particular value is marking the previous day’s high and low and watching price action around those levels. It is possible to catch 10 to 20 pips often as price tests the previous day’s high or low and pulls back. Of course, the probability of a successful trade becomes higher if the previous day’s high or low also coincides with other factors such as a Fibonacci level or pivot point.

Why are horizontal lines probably more significant than trendlines?

When developing your Forex trading style it is very important to look beyond candles. Trading is much more than that. The successful trader understands what is going on behind the scenes. Candles and price action is simply an outward manifestation of what is happening across the desks of thousands of traders across the globe who deal with billions of dollars worth of flows and orders.

A previous high or low in price action, especially on the higher time frame, means that the bulls or the bears won the battle in that trading session. If a number of traders committed a large amount of equity to a currency at a certain price, then obviously that price point is going to be fiercely defended in the future by those traders.

So horizontal lines drawn across levels of support and resistance mark very real points at which we can expect a reaction from price.

Trendlines on the other hand tend to be more speculative in my opinion. Watch price reaction at horizontal lines of support and resistance as opposed to trendlines and you will notice that price respects key levels of support and resistance more often than trendline levels.

Should trendlines be included in your Forex trading style?

That is an individual matter. They can certainly be helpful in offering confirmation of a trade after taking into consideration other factors. But to trade on trendlines alone can be very risky. On the other hand, it is possible to trade almost entirely on what support and resistance tell you at certain times when key levels are being tested.

Generally though, a successful Forex trading style will combine a number of factors. My favorites in order of importance are:

1. Support & Resistance levels on the higher time frames
2. Fibonacci retracement and extension levels
3. Pivot points
4. Candle patterns
5. 200 EMA (Exponential Moving Average)

If you are in the process of developing your own Forex trading style you may arrive at a different priority list. Why not experiment with horizontal support and resistance lines and trendlines and decide for yourself which gives the most reliable indication of price movement?

It’s cold and gray outside, typical February morning. My appointment is not till 2:30. The waiting is making me anxious! In the shower I frantically start doing a self-breast exam and begin to worry if everything is normal; was that lump there last month? I’m dressed; it’s 12:30 p.m. I run a few errands around town and find myself forgetting simple things like; my cell phone and the coffee on the counter at WaWa. I desperately need some more caffeine. I am starting to sweat and I am not wearing any deodorant. I play around on the computer till 2:05. Time to leave, the wind blows the car door against my shoulder; ouch! I arrive at the Brick Imaging Center at 2:20.

The receptionists’ were extremely polite. Everyone at the center appeared warm with sweet dispositions. I filled out paperwork with a pen in the shape of a rose. More sweetness! Next, I am greeted by my technician; the person who in a few short minutes will be lifting, moving and pressing my breasts onto a plate. I am lead through two curtains to a pseudo dressing room where I undress and re-dress in a poncho split up the front and split slightly higher on the sides. I am glad I wore my “big” jeans for the occasion! Now for the wait….there is two other women in the room with me dressed in pastel capes with pocketbook swung over their arms. After only five minutes I complain out loud to my robed comrades, “Boy, how long do we have to wait in hear”? I realized at that moment it had only been a few minutes. I guess I couldn’t stand the silence. I began to get into a good Ladies Home Journal article on cheating spouses when I hear, “Mrs. Turnbach, come with me”. (Hold on one minute, it dawned on me this is the second time since I’ve arrived I have been called Mrs. Turnbach, Do they HAVE to keep reminding me of how old I am and that I am here for a mammography!)

The Test:

The technician could not have been nicer. We talked about hair. She liked my hair cut. I said, “I didn’t really do anything with it today” (you know, no reason because I was just being checked for CANCER!) Her hair was thin, shoulder length with bad bangs, she said she always had the bangs and was considering growing them out. She wanted the reverse bob like me but did not think it would look good. (As much as I enjoyed talking to her, I’m thinking is it over yet? Are the pictures being taken as we speak? Is there someone else coming into the room to man handle my breasts like raw meatballs in a busy Italian restaurant?) My eyes begin to dart around and I said to the sweet tech, “O.K.”. She must have known I was then ready. The instruction begins, “Swing the right side of the cape over your shoulder please” Miss nice girl with bad hair said. Boob is exposed! Who cares, I have no problem topless. (For some this may be embarrassing and nervousness may set in) I just didn’t know, since it was my first time, what to do in this position? Do I stand straight, move my breast to the right, and turn sideways? Then the lady gently lays her soft hands on my breast and kneads the tissue (three times; top bottom and side) forward onto the squishy breast plate. The test was a breeze. Two pictures each breast. The first picture is taken head on; first right breast, then left. The pad your breast laid on was soft and warm. Watch out though for your ribcage that leans up against the metal of the machine, that’s chilly, Burr! The clear plastic plate came down on my breast, squishing it like a sandwich. I glanced down and notice numbers 1, 5, 10, 15 on the “breast plate” Mine filled it all the way to the 15! Not bad I thought (like I even knew what these numbers meant). Hurt? No! Weird? Yes! Especially if you look down at your breast tissue and see it in a way that you HAVE NEVER SEEN A BREAST LOOK BEFORE. Not even Picasso himself could masterfully arrange this form.

Back in the waiting room…

I open a Christmas issue of Redbook and WA-LA! A before and after picture of a lady, with thin Blonde hair, with the reverse boob (oops, I meant bob, I will leave that slip) I rip out the picture for what’s her name because of the similarity. I am still in my super hero cape! Wait wait wait…, 20 more minutes. “Mrs. Turnbach”, (I am used to being called by my sur name at this point, “Yess!” “Come with me”. We step into a room and I am barely through the doorway before the nurse says; “Everything is fine, you have healthy breast tissue, we will see you back… (Is she kidding? fine? I went through all of this and I am fine, this is surreal, I was prepared for the worst, hair loss, reconstruction if necessary, buying everything with pink on it, when is the walk?) In 5 years at age 40, 35 is just a base line. Then after the age of 40 it is once a year, O.K.” I respond with a big, “O.K., O.K.”! Yippee, I trot back to the dressing room/waiting room. There was some baby powder I took advantage of since you have to have the test with no deodorant on or perfumes. Dressed, my black Coach bag dusted with powder, I leave the office but not before finding Miss Nice Person to give her the picture of the Redbook Model. She seemed to genuinely appreciate the gesture and said she may just get the nerve to try the new style one day. Then she asked me if I cut hair? “No”, I said.

Off I go…back in my truck I felt dizzy…where am I going? Hey, who cares, I do not have cancer, Thank God! THANK GOD!
