Cats experience anxiety and get stressed out just like us human staffers. Unlike people, cats don’t have a lot of creative ways to express their feelings. Unfortunately, when cats suffer from stress and anxiety, they generally communicate it in a very clear way that can really turn humans upside down. They usually tell us by not using the cat litter box.

And since we can’t speak meow, and cats don’t talk, the challenge is to figure why our cats aren’t feeling right. Usually when a cat stops using her litter box, it’s a medical problem. But if it isn’t, one of causes high on my list is stress and anxiety.

What do cats get anxious about? Here’s a partial list:

- Moving to a new home

- Gaining a new household member, animal or human

- You change jobs and start a new schedule

- You bring new furniture into your home

- Kitty’s favorite person moves out, and she misses that individual

- Construction and/or remodeling of your home

- Relocation of her cat litter box(es)

- Change in type of cat litter

This list is not complete. Felines are complicated creatures, and almost anything can set them off.

If your cat suddenly stops using the litter box out of the blue, eliminate any medical causes first. If kitty gets a clean bill of health, examine the list above, and think about any recent changes you’ve made to your home. If it appears to be a coincidence, it probably isn’t.

This can be a tough problem to solve, but once you figure out the cause, you can start developing solutions. If the stress-inducing situation is temporary (such as the last three items on my list), they can be dealt with.

On the other hand, if the problem appears to be one of the first five, you’ll need plenty of patience and a strategy to get kitty right again.

Often, once kitty gets used to the change, she’ll calm down and start to use her litter box again. During her adjustment period, it may work to confine her to one room with her food, water, litter box, bedding, and toys. This limits the amount of damage done to your home, and as kitty realizes the changes mean her no harm, she’ll get back to her good cat litter box habits.

You can also help kitty calm down by purchasing synthetic feline hormones. These will reassure her that life is still OK. You can also administer homeopathic remedies that are completely natural and cause no side effects.

The moment when the bride tosses her bouquet is one of the shots by which you’ll be measured as a wedding photographer. Here are some techniques that will help you capture this moment.

Get the Best Angle
Set yourself up at the best angle well before the bride tosses the bouquet. This is usually a position that allows you to capture both the bride as she tosses the bouquet and the throng of girls lined up to catch the bouquet. Standing to the side is one option. Another option is standing close to the bride so that you can focus on her as she tosses the flowers and then quickly switch your focus to the girls as they grab for it. But you should also consider other more creative options. For instance, what if you shot low, from down on the floor? What if you stood on a chair and captured the toss from a higher perspective? Either way might give you a photo that sets you apart as a wedding photographer.

Lens Choice
I find that a zoom lens that includes a wide angle option offers the most potential for capturing the toss. With a wide angle, you can include both the bride as she makes the toss and the throng of girls as they compete to catch it. It also give you the option of zooming in closer if you want. However, remember not to stand too close to the bride while shooting wide, since wide angle lenses tend to distort perspective. Close-ups of people with wide angles make them look heavier than they really are — that is, it expands their faces.

Stage a Fake Toss
Ask your bride to fake the first toss. Tell her to go through all the motions of throwing it, but not to release it. This strategy increases your chances at capturing the moment. It also allows you to capture the laughter of the girls as they realize they’ve been tricked.

Motor Drive
Setting your camera on motor drive allows you to fire off multiple shots in a short amount of time. You should use a motor drive because it’s nearly impossible to capture the exact best moment by just shooting a couple shots. It all happens too fast. But by using a motor drive, you can shoot up to 20 shots. However, if you’re using a flash, you should also use a battery pack to make sure that your flash fires for every shot. Without the battery pack, your batteries would be good for maybe two shots. The rest of the shots would be lost while the batteries recycle.

Shoot the Crowd
Right after the bouquet is caught, turn around quickly to capture the expressions of the onlookers. These are often as interesting as the bride and the girls themselves — wonderful shots of surprise and laughter and anticipation, people with their hands over their open mouths, eyes wide.

After it’s all over, take the girl who caught the bouquet to the side for a shot of her. However, try not to shoot her just standing there. Tell the other girls to stand behind her and cheer. Or pose her with the guy who caught the garter during the groom’s garter toss.

The answer to the question is a resounding yes.  It is still very very possible, easy even, to use the internet to generate a healthy online income.  For instance, I published a new small website this week which took me about 10 hours to author and publish and it earned $40 in just 2 days with minimal effort marketing or promoting the site.  The website focuses on marketing a niche health related product.  I am confident that this site will generate an consistent income of about $400 a month and there is very little that I need to do now that it is up and running.  This is just one of many projects that I am working on at the moment. 10 projects with a similar success rate would generate $4000 per month; 50 projects with a similar success rate would generate $20 000 per month.

In my opinion the secrets to success are simple. 

Firstly, don’t try to be innovative and creative.  This takes time, and time is money.  Just copy the methods that others have used.  Many successful entrepreneurs are prepared to reveal the secret to their success for a fee and there are many ebooks available from some of the nets biggest successes.  It’s just a matter of finding the decent advice amongst the not so good advice which pollutes the net.  This is difficult!  However, having spent many hours researching and trying some of these methods, some of the advice is absolutely fantastic and really really works.  I use many of the methods that I have learnt from these invaluable resources.

Secondly, think small to earn big.  A project that generates $10 a day is successful.  Rinse and repeat over and over again and it all adds up to a substantial amount of money.

In my experience I have personally never been able to make decent returns from online auctions - millions upon millions people sell this way as a hobby and a prepared to do so for tiny returns.  This makes it difficult to earn enough to make the effort worthwhile.  In addition, I have never been able to generate any income via e-commerce or dropshippers.  The web is heavily dominated by the big boys which makes it impossible to compete in terms of price or the quality of service, unless you find a niche which can be readily exploited.

There are however opportunities and methods out there which really work.  You just need to find them!

When your company pays your children, this is money that your company would usually:

Distribute or pay to you, or
Pay to another employee to do the tasks

If the money is distributed or paid to you, it is taxed at your individual tax rate. If the money is paid to another employee, then that money is leaving your family circle and can no longer work for you and your family.

Having your company hire your children keeps the money in your family and moves the income from your tax rate to your children’s tax rates.

Your children’s tax rates start at 0%. This means if you are in a 30% tax rate, then paying your children shifts income from your 30% tax rate to your children’s 0% tax rate and you reduce your taxes!

The first $5,450 of earned income to each child is taxed at 0%. What happens if your children earn more than this amount? You may still save taxes because your children also have 10% and 15% tax brackets. This provides great opportunity to shift your income to a lower tax bracket!

What about payroll taxes?

Your business and your child may be responsible for payroll taxes, which total approximately 15%. Don’t forget to factor this in when you are calculating how much you save in taxes by hiring your children.

However, there are exceptions to this rule. These exceptions exempt some businesses from having to pay payroll taxes on wages paid to children of the owners. The rules are very specific to each situation so be sure to discuss this with your tax coach.

Getting your children in the game and on your payroll provides many opportunities to reduce your taxes. Even more exciting is what your children can do with this money to put their money to work.

I am not sure what the latest statistic is, but I believe that it is that 65% of people in the United States are within 2 paychecks of losing their home. WOW! That is a scary thought. Regardless of the exact numbers, most people in the world do not have any “money margins.” I am using Richard Swenson’s (author of numerous books about “margins”) definition of margin as “the space that once existed between ourselves and our limits. It’s something held in reserve for contingencies or unanticipated situations.”

The purpose of this article is not to get into social commentary about people who do not even have jobs or what that situation involves. It is for people who are working and need to attend to whether they have margins for emergencies and for making great spending decisions.

To build margins of wealth, do one or more of the following:

1. Consult with a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Most will offer a one-hour free consultation. It’s worth the time. You need to know the status of your finances. This person will help you set financial goals for the present and the future. Ask friends for recommendations of someone with whom they have worked who has been helpful. You don’t want to just choose someone out of the Yellow Pages.
2. Study the “Laws of Attraction.” If you constantly say a) you don’t have any money, b) you will never earn any money, c) you are in a low-paying job that isn’t valued, or d) anything along this line, then you can just plan to stay there. If you see yourself with wealth, you will begin moving toward that prosperity.
3. Keep some cash on hand. There are disasters and cash is what you need. You need to know you have several hundred (or more) dollars that are ready to be grabbed if something horrible happens and you need cash.
4. Have money for your savings account automatically removed from your paycheck. You are less likely to spend money that you don’t “see” on payday.
5. Spend less than you make. Duh! But apparently this needs to be mentioned because of the number of Americans, in particular, who spend more than they make.
6. Avoid thinking of shopping as “entertainment.” Going to a mall, even if you’re going to a restaurant there, is an invitation for you to spend money that you don’t have.
7. Pay off your credit cards. If you need help with how to make this happen, consult with one of the free services or talk to your CFP. Most credit cards charge 12% - 24% interest. There is not an investment you can make that would pay you that much. Get your credit cards paid off.
8. Start a home-based business. The opportunities for doing something that is income-producing (along with the legal ways to save on your taxes in the U.S.) mean you are crazy not to take advantage of this possibility.
9. “Try out” a large purchase, like a new car, for at least six months (and save toward this purchase, which you can then use as your down payment). Then, if you find it difficult to put $__/month in a savings account for six months, think how tough it will be to pay your $__/month payment for five years. You may decide to buy something less expensive or not to buy anything at all.
10. Work toward the goal of being financially independent. When you are financially independent, you can stop working and just live off what you have accumulated. Most people who are financially independent keep working, but it’s with a completely different mindset. And here’s another amazing idea: We all need a lot less than we think to live. Once you make that shift, your financial independence comes much sooner. And then you can keep working and build up huge financial margins.

If you’re concerned that your kids spend too much time glued to a TV screen while playing video games, there are some fun alternatives that the whole family can enjoy. I am talking about electric RC cars, those radio controlled toy cars that come in various sizes and prices. My kids have a number of them and probably get as much or more use out of them than of their PlayStation. Here are some of the games we play with our radio control cars:

Road course:

Here we are simulating a road-racing course for our remote control cars! Go to an empty parking lot or a similar place where you have a slot of space to run the cars. Outline a course using sidewalk chalk and mark the curves with pylons, sneakers or anything else that will stay put. Make the course interesting, but not overly complex (unless your kids are older and appreciate a challenge). Make sure it includes a long straight to let the cars run. Determine how many laps the race will be. Then it’s, “Gentlemen, start your engines!”

Obstacle course:

This one is for older kids who have good hand/eye coordination. You don’t need as much space for this as you do for a road course; even a driveway will do. Again using sideway chalk, design a fairly challenging course with six to eight obstacles. Be creative with the obstacles. They can be chicanes where the cars have to slow down and negotiate several curves, they can be gravel pits for the cars to go through, they can be bottlenecks that can only handle one car at a time, they can be ramps or steep inclines, or whatever else you can think of. Run the obstacle course like a road course with so and so many laps, or do time trials. Make sure the RC cars used are able to handle the obstacles.

Stunt course:

For some thrilling fun, build a stunt course! Mark the course on a driveway or in a backyard and include three or four stunts. Stunts can be ramps the cars must jump over, obstacles they must crash into or punch out of the way, rollovers, drops, or any other daredevil challenge you can think of. Points are awarded for successful stunts, and the driver with the most points wins! Warning: just like with real stunt driving, cars may get damaged. So pick sturdy, rugged RC toy cars for this one.

RC Sumo:

To RC Sumo, use sidewalk chalk to mark a circle with a diameter of about six times the length of the cars that will participate. Two cars play at a time, and the challenge is to drive the opponent out of the ring. A match is won as soon as two wheels of one of the cars are outside of the ring. Determine the winner in best-of-three or best-of-five challenges. For really wild action you can make the ring somewhat larger and have four or more vehicles compete, with the last one inside becoming the winner!

There are, of course, many other games you can play with electric RC cars, but the above will get you going. My family loves the RC car challenges and I love thinking up new games and course for the kids to enjoy.
